My teenager wants invisible braces. What is involved?
Most teenagers nowadays understand that It is important to have a great smile. It is a gift for life.
Often metal braces are used and they can be made more colourful with coloured elastics that the team can change each time they visit. Some older teens prefer ceramic or tooth coloured brackets.
To find out what works best for your teen, come in and speak to Dr. Lesley Short, our specialist orthodontist. You can call to book an appointment in Noosa, or you can fill in the form on our Contact page and we will contact you.
What are other options for teenagers?
If braces are a better option for your teenager, we have some popular customisations for them. There are options for tooth-coloured braces, or we can supply coloured elastics. Braces, also known as ‘fixed appliances’, are generally used to correct dental alignment issues. When there is a jaw alignment problem, braces can be combined with headgear, functional appliances or expanders to achieve maximum dental and facial improvement. Lesley prefers to carry out full fixed braces, without any extractions of teeth if the case permits.
Are braces for teenagers painful?
Braces aren’t particularly painful. Sometimes there is discomfort akin to having some food stuck between your teeth. Usually, discomfort rarely lasts longer than 1 or 2 days, and can be managed with over-the-counter painkillers such as paracetamol or ibuprofen.
How much does Invisalign™ Cost?
It depends on how long you would need to wear the serial aligners, and how many aligners you need. The cost usually ranges between $3,500 and $12,000, depending on your individual requirements. It could be that other options would be more suitable. We would need to discuss your options in person in order to determine the best course of action.
How long do braces take to work?
Again, this depends on individual circumstances; however, the typical treatment time for a teenager is 2 years. Lesley has trained in specialist techniques known as ‘accelerated orthodontics’, which can reduce the treatment time needed in some cases by up to 66%. That means that treatment could take as little as 8 -12 months.
What do teenagers braces cost?
The average cost of full orthodontic braces in Australia is about $8,000. The cost can be as little as $3,000 for partial braces only, and can rise up to $8,000 for full upper and lower braces in some cases. The price is dependent on your individual needs, so we can’t tell you how much they would be for your individual circumstances without a consultation at the clinic. At Sunshine Coast Orthodontics we want to work with you to give you the best solution for your teenager’s smile.
At Sunshine Coast Orthodontics you can spread the cost of treatment by paying an initial deposit, followed by monthly payments. We also accept HICAPS if you have private dental cover for orthodontic treatment.
